The only other way to do it would be modifying/replacing the dwm process itself, which in not the best solution.
No, it's not an app. It's a dll that attaches to the dwm process.

Did you enable Desktop Experience? Not really shure if this Alpha supports Server though.

At the MSFN forum, I saw that someone posted a picture of Chrome with some of the background peeking from behind when the program is enabled.. I created an PowerPoint file using a dark blue color as the background, and I saw some of my wallpaper, the Windows 8 Consumer Preview fish wallpaper, within the background. Region.png

A small transparency bug should be fixed in the upcoming version ;-)

WindowsBlinds 8 doesn't look like Aero Glass at all, it seems to be straight up transparency with no blur or aero glass effects included.
As far as I know BigMuscle's Aero Glass for Win8 project is still the only true AeroGlass implementation available.

The purpose of my Aero Glass utility is to enable glass effect in the most possible native form. So it is by design that it will stop working when the native code is removed from DWM - it is the intention and it will never be changed. If you want to complain you can always use e.g. WindowBlinds or write your own non-native solution (e.g. using layered windows hack) which will perform important things on its own resulting in degraded performance, application incompatibility or touch overall system stability.

My Aero Glass for Win8 works regardless the version of used Win8 DirectX 10.1 DWM library. Your solution is much worse:

    a) you are modifying system files thus it is not windows updates-proof. When system updates all of the files, glass stops working. When system updates some of the files, it will crash whole system completely
    b) you are using unfinished buggy libraries
    c) DWM in Win8 RP requires different system/MIL message opcodes thus many things will stop working completely
    d) it is violating license

    ...it is all pointless :)
...keep W7, if you care about glass nonsence so much... :p

...injecting is SLOW, so it uselessly degrades performance. Also when I tried 0.1 version of BigMuscle's solution, I noticed, that actually whole window is 0,5% transparent, what is unpleasant for movie playback. (Contures of wallpaper were noticeable...)

Combining DLLs from legacy OS with BSOD here are there is pretty dull itself.

Hah, so you tried version 0.1 which is totally different from any newer version and exactly know how it really behaves now?
