I don't think so, maybe just consider that work is enormous, very hard to figure it out, and if that guy has done, it will very buggy, so think he will be in "solving bugs stage" where he has to face driver incompatibility issues (New 8 drivers will not "support" full DWM, which is officially removed by MS, so vendors do not consider it ) In my opinion, wait two weeks more to have news from him (i expect a alpha version), if not, we can consider him a troll faker, or just a looser that shows up something did not managed to do in a fully stable way! For now wait and forget Aero themes in your Windows crap and wait a plan B(Windows Blue, perfectly fits with "B"), if RTM fail (which is on a good direction) to save the face!
Or the build he was using still had Aero did any one think of that those image i could photoshop in about 5 min just using the RP and the RTM.
I believe he has passed this stage, because in his post he said what he will try to do in this week is to "add the feature to the control(personalization) panel"; and he said the MS workload is heavy on something he could not tell(of course). I think it is unfair for some people to comment about faking or trolling, just because of some delays.
@FaiKee, not saying that he is trolling, just looking at the possibility. Besides, I'm good with the current Desktop but I have a few acquaintances who love Aero but want to use Windows 8 so I'm keeping an eye out for anything that looks promising. @jayblock, that avatar of yours is going to give someone an epileptic seizure.
It's the closest to W2K theme that man can do. I've made it for a friend ,and when I noticed that a lot of people on the various forums are asking for a classical theme, I put it on DeviantART for download.
You are serious ? I going back to 7 the time someone develop a program that provide an aero interface and start menu without bugs. And even with that we have still ugly logon screen and logoff screen in plain color and ugly boot screen, and no safe mode with F8 without modify bcdedit, no more status bar with thumbnail, no more detailled BSOD, smartscreen for noobs, etc...
Windows 8 crushes windows 7 in terms of performance. It gives my old machine new life. Also, adapting to a a new way of doing the same stuff IS possible. I can find items incredibly fast thanks to metro (just type in the desired words and windows 8 will find it). I'm not afraid of change, I embrace it.
Well, it's real. That's always good news. Hopefully he can get the bugs ironed out soon as well. I like 8, but I really dislike retinal damage. Oversaturated, intense colors for active windows. It hurts to look at. Awful gray for inactive windows. Also hurts to look at.
Windows 8 RP does it all, at the same speed, but still has Aero. So what's the problem? And it's not so much faster than Windows 7.
