No, you do not need to patch anything because it is a original Microsoft Style from the Release Preview. Simple copy the files in the Themes folder an use it
Like the Metro interface or not, if you do any kind of technical support, you need be familiar with it.
Looks good but it killed my windows install after replacing the files windows wouldnt boot it would get stuck on a flashing screen.
no, it doesn't work... ...well it is not MS signed, so no surprise, that it doesn't work BTW: Do not do restart, when replacing those theme files or you will brick your installation.
i think you need to patch the uxtheme **********[dot]de/wiki/index.php/Windows_8_Themes_installieren and do not replace the original aero theme, you need to rename it to aeroDark or something!!! THX! to Nighthawk-F22 datafilehost[dot]com/download-8ff3d98e.html
As said guys: Working on a Windows 8 RTM themes is too early, may brick your system! Theme structure is different, Windows Style Builder is not reported officialy compatible with it Replacing images with Restorator(be aware of where the msstyle is modified, in 64 bit Restorator saves so, so if you copy the file in 32 your system do not boot, usualy stuck at logon, and there is a solution without reinstalling) may work, but you have to know exactly what to do,at that point nobody knows(even the masters of theming) is too early, takes time and matter of trying!! SO, TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK, PREFERABLY ON A TEST MACHINE ON VIRTUAL ONE In that stage Windows 8 is not point of interest of themers, lack of customization, inconsistency between two interfaces, Aero missing; so do not expect nothing now..... Wait GA, and hope for news guys
I think the Metro look has been in the works for quite some time. I'm pretty sure I saw some pictures of it back in 2010. Actually, the very beginning may have been in Windows 7 with the flat white tray icons (you know, things like the network indicator, volume, battery indicator). I remember thinking they were kind of ugly when Win7 launched, especially next to third-party applications' icons, which were full of color. But, now those same icons have been carried over to Win8 and they fit right in with the other flat elements. About dropping Aero, it seemed that for a while, they were fine with the desktop looking completely different from Metro, but later decided it wasn't such a good idea after all. Although, strangely most of the icons still have the same glossy look of Windows past. Maybe they just haven't gotten around to changing those yet.
