As stated above. I download and installed Dell recovery onto my system. I was having many many problems, such as all USB and Thunderbolt ports stopping. My mouse would stop working and the only way to get it back was ctrl-alt-del and select Task Manager and the mouse would start working again. Dell recovery installed 19042.xxxx. On restart Dell command update came up and installed about 15 updates for the hardware. I went to WU and it installed about 15 updates for windows. After a restart WU popped back up with several more updates which brought the system up to the Oct. 25 update 19045.6456. Now all MS icons on the taskbar have stopped working. Start. Calendar, Network, Battery, etc. Well, I just had to ctrl-alt-del to finish typing this post so apparently the keyboard goes down now. Got any ideas guys? I ran memtest86 yesterday and it showed 0 errors. sfc /scannow all DISM commands and Sysnative's Components Scanner show 0 errors. This is not the system in my sig, however it is the same brand and model. The difference is this has an i9 10885H CPU and 32 GB non ECC DDR 4 ram. Just hoping it's not the MB. Bill
Point is that none o MS's icons in on the taskbar work. Start button Calendar, Network etc. How do I get them to work again?
Jeeze, I thought that of all the Win 10 users here on MDL, someone would have came across this before. Everything I can find on the Net is about removing the tray, or simply doesn't work to get the icons to work again. It's kinda difficult to run Windows without a Start Menu. I have implemented many workarounds, however this is about to get on my last 85yo nerve.
