    NoJuan999,

I copied and pasted "awdflash 518.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R" into the FlashCD Program. I burned the ISO with Alcohol 120% at 8X. I Booted to it (CD is set as first device in Bios) and it ran awdflash automatically.

It stopped at the instruction "do you want to save the present Bios". I typed N for no => but it still ended up with the dreaded Red "Invalid Windows Licence" and stopped there.

I typed awdflash at the Dos prompt and Awardflash ran. I typed in the file name 518.bin, and again it asked "do you want to save the present Bios". I typed N for no => but it still ended up with the dreaded Red "Invalid Windows Licence" and again stopped there.

I'm gettting a trash bin full of Coasters but still no lucko_O. Any other ideas?

    thanks.

You could try Awdflash 1.x from the ASUS site.

Alternately you could look in the Bios setup for this option:
    For PHOENIX/AWARD BIOS:
•Go to "Advanced BIOS Features". Go to the "1st Boot device" and set it to "USB-ZIP".

    NoJuan999,

I tried again using a different source for Awardflash 8.94 in case the original was corrupted. I also modified your suggestion to "awdflash 518.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R" changing the R (reboot) to SN This = no original BIOS backup => but still no joy. I again tried it after failure from the dos prompt, but the dreaded Red "Invalid Windows Licence" cooled my jets.

Can I ask you to check the modded bios file you graciously provided on the remote chance there issomething there that won't allow it to run?

I'm thinking of running HP Bios Upgrade 518 (via Vista as they don't have any non OS install method) in the remote chance it is preventing Awardflash from doing it's job.

I know I'm grasping at straws but I've run out of ideas.

I think I'll go to bed and sleep on it...:Flush:

If you still have Vista installed you can upgrade to 518 from Vista First and then try flashing the modified Bios.
It may even work from Vista but is usually not recommended.

If you can't figure it out, you should start your own thread and ask for help from other HP Slimline owners thay might know a trick or two that you and I don't, when it comes to that specific PC.

Read This (from a similar Bios):

    NoJuan999,

Thanks for the tip about using an older version of Awardflash. (I wonder what version it was...o_O)

HP's bios upgrade for this PC is a self contained exe that only runs from the operating system (Vista in this case). HP makes no provision for any other method of flashing.

Perhaps if I flash to 518 we'll get lucky and the new Bios would allow Flashing from a USB device.

Yes it has HP SLIC 2.1.
Post a screenshot of the advanced tab from SLIC Toolkit (on the Win 7 you have installed) so I can see what's happening.

    NoJuan999,

By the way, I sucessfully manually installed the certificate you provided (before I did the SLIC sceenshot) and got no activation with it. (Checked with Opa Tool v0.7).
