    Yah, 'permanent' means SLIC remains after official bios update.

    Can you point me to where I need to go to learn about the loader part? As I said, I've never needed one. I've just put in the new BIOS and when I checked, it's always been activated. This PC must be a little different.

    sorry it does not work ..
    I have created a bootable usb not want to boot from the asus

    I have CMD now run in Windows and from USB flash.bat started and get the message that it does not work under 64bits

    try run Asus_X501A.exe from windows PE or window xp mini from CD
