Did you try the v1.1 BIOS for that board. I had one person use the v1.2 sucessfully and one that said it failed for him, but the v1.1 seems to work for most people on that board.
I don't mind at all. It Is NOT recommended to use Winflash as it is MUCH more Risky that using the Flash Utility from your Board manufacturer for DOS. If you don't have a Falsh Utility from he Manufacturer, I would try AFUDOS 2.x (from ASUS) or AFUDOS 4.x. (From AMI). I just looked and Your BIOS came with winflash so it might work fine but make sure you have a Recovery Disk ready if you try that utility.
Flashing MB P5KPL-AM Hello I have 2 questions: 1. When I try to update my MB bios with Asus Windows utility (ASUSupdate), it never proposes me the v.0518, but only the v.0516 (while when I go on Asus download center, I see this v.0518. So, how to be sure if that version fits my MB P5KPL-AM? 2. Can I use ASUSupdate (under Windows XP, as I didn't install yet 7) with your mod file? Thanks [Edit] I believe that according to your post #1977 question 2 is already answered !!!
1. Open you PC and look at the MB then check the Model with the one on the ASUS Site. If they match you will be fine. BUT, Why Not just use a modified version of the 0516 BIOS ???? 2. I have absolutely NO Experience with Live Update. If it flashes from within Windows I would NOT Use it !!!!!!!!!! I would HIGHLY recommend you flash from DOS with the AFUDOS v2.36 that matches your board from the ASUS Site.
OK. I was asking about the v.0518 you have proposed because it's with SLP, ... Asus, while the v.0516 files I found are identified as Dell (even if technically it doesn't really matter, my computer is not a Dell). Thanks again.
