here when i installed this,windows has a problem when i restart,luck i did one restauration point e_e
Just a quick tip. If you plan on uninstalling the previous AMD SATA Drivers you may of installed via Device Manager, you don't want to do this. Instead, update the driver to the Standard AHCI driver (or whatever it was before), or roll it back. In Windows 7, uninstalling the AMD SATA Driver from Device Manager and then rebooting wouldn't be an issue, since it automatically reinstalled the basic SATA drivers at reboot. Doing this in Windows 8 will leave you with an unbootable OS, that will require you to either reinstall, or refresh (reinstall Win8 without loosing files) via a Win8 DVD or install media.
You should be able to open the SYSTEM hive in a registry editor (with a boot disk or secondary operating system), enable the storahci driver and reboot. Assuming that's the problem.
That was my fear after reading few posts, so untill there's a valid key or some option I think it's better to stay away from upgrading this new AMD drivers, glad I haven't on a friend's activated PC.
I honestly fail to see how this would happen... it would be good for people with the problem to specify more what happened, maybe you have an AMD chipset and screwed something else's driver? here it was quite simple, I had the beta 9.0.xxx something installed previously, but when I went to remove the driver I noticed it didn't had the option on the usual control panel/add remove programs, so I just installed 12.8 over it, and as expected it didn't work (old driver was kept and CCC was not working) BUT it added the uninstaller do the add/remove programs, so I just used that, rebooted and installed 12.8 again, and now it is working 100%. I did my activation on that first KMS server that appeared, and reinstalling video drivers had no effect on that, as expected...
Installed 12.8 over 12.7 > Crash and reboot during install > BSOD > Automatic Repair > Reboot > Automatic Repair > No ability to restore and only option was reinstall
that's exactly why easy access to safe mode from the older versions of windows is great... could have easily solved this problem with the ability to remove the drivers without the OS trying to load them on boot.. but anyway, 12.7 would only install on 8 by forcing it, also always try to remove the older driver first, it can prevent a lot of problems... so your problem was caused by the installation vs old version, but with a clean install 12.8 should work fine for any radeon HD5k and higher.
Is there a way to safely install just the display driver, without it touching the SATA drivers (which is what causes deactivation of Windows)?
Does anyone know if Microsoft has finally added a general Windows 8 graphics driver for 1280x800 notebook resolution? This really prevented me from installing Windows 8 so far.
