For stability or what? Performance is out of the question versus 20.4.1 Want me to put some screenshots from 3d mark?
20.5.1 update is out with no links for a Windows 7 driver, don't have my 8.1 partition anymore (rip) to test it. Does it install or is 20.4.2 that final Win 7/8.1 driver now? Apparently the release is pretty buggy so if future releases still work that'd be great.
20.5.1 is the first official release of the 20.10 driver branch, that uses the Universal Windows Driver architecture that only works on W10. I'd say it's pretty much game over for Windows versions bellow v1709(?)
Odd, driver 20.7.1 is out and has support for Windows 7. Wonder if it was that buggy that AMD decided not to make a release for 7.
Decided to go back to 8.1, installing 21.4.1 fails from both device manager and running ccc2_install.exe. Anyone else tried installing it from a fresh install? Gonna try installing an older version and then upgrading to it if it's possible.
W7 drivers works for me (R9 280X which is the same 7970). Install drivers (device manager with *.inf) run ccc2 from Program Files and that is it.
Hi well I use this driver and I have no problems alias never had, my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3HP and cpu A10-7850
21.4.1 WQHL didn't instally normally on my W7 x64 machine (Core2 Duo with R HD 7970), but I installed it from device manager and ccc2 from unpacked driver dir. Works ok for now.
Figured it out, I have a newer motherboard with latest BIOS with 'Above 4G decoding' enabled. Was getting error 43 and the installer not loading. Disabled it and was able to install fine, turning it back on after a good driver install had loaded the basic Windows display adapter.
Looks like 21.5.2 is the final Windows 7 driver, 21.6.1, HD 7000, R_ 200 and R_ 300 GPUs were dropped for support too. Further releases will be Windows 10 only.
