Yeah thats what i thought from the hex editor output. But P5Q Deluxe doesn't have any onboard VGA so i guess its just a default module that ASUS just didn't bother to remove. Can it be removed and something more useful put in its place?
It probably can be removed but i wouldnt do it if i where you, "just in case". I was reading rebelshavenforum yesterday. Thing is this modules can be very useful. For example network boot module, is there only for one reason, for booting from network. You can actualy write your own module instead of network boot module, enable network booting in bios and it can execute custom code. You can actualy take it that far, that you can add custom options in bios and this custom module will execute according to them and with that you can add your own options inside the bios, what you think its missing (for example TREF setting on my mobo). However this is VERY dangerous and im sure you brick mobo/bios sooner then later so if you cant crossflash bios chip or have some other method of recovery i wouldnt do it. In your case i assume that module is inside and not active and since call never gets to that module it would probably be safe to remove, HOWEVER since call is not placed for that module, you also cant put anything else instead of it.
You do have a point but i was thinking of removing the the VGA part and adding something else. Then maybe code an entry point. I am being this brave since the P5Q deluxe comes with 2 bios chips.
well then just remove it and see what happens im sure it should be fine, but there is also possibility it will fail, but since if there are 2 bios chips shouldnt be big deal.
@dweller: The lastest bios modded is not working with my Abit IP35 PRO(Intel RAID/AHCI Option ROM 8.9.1.1002). It gave me an error with raid. Back to the version with 8.5. Do you have raid running on your PC?
wierd... 8.9.1 is working in raid mode on my rampage formula with x48 NB and ich9r SB. I didnt have any problems till now with any rom.... (except 9.5). Thins is there ICH10R is basicaly die shrink of ICH9R with same specifications, there isnt any "practical" reason why ICH10R roms would not work with ICH9R.
Which ROM is used for AHCI-only mode? The Phoenix ROM, or does the Intel RAID ROM have something to do with it?
@dweller Try setting Raid mode in bios and you will see the error(with 8.9.1 Intel rom). After that reboot and set it back to AHCI.
