there where some perl parsing tools and decompressors posted in EFI bios topic that you can use for this.

    Guys,
Anybody can share Intel(R) RAID for SATA full option ROM for ICH7, please?
    I got 5.0.0.1032 (RAID0, 1, 10) only looking for (RAID0, 1, 10, 5) one.

I tried to flash 7.6.0.1011 full, but got hardware unsupported error during ROM loading.
    It didn’t brick mobo fortunately!

I was wondering also, if ROM v6 exists?

I guess, the one I need is too old. If nobody has is, will try to get it from some old Intel BIOS...

Well, phoenixtool manages .bio files from intel this days as well. So geting roms from intel mobos is easy.

    Thanks for the info! :)
Do you remember by a chance what intel mobo has ICH7?
I guess, it should be anyone around 2005-2006, right?

no problem! BTW you almost cant brick mobo if raid option rom is not working with your ICH chipset, because this option rom is not important for mobo to boot (thats why it is "option rom") :) worst case scenario is that raid/ahci wont work and will give "hardware failure", but that only means you need to flash old bios back, so if you want to experiment... Im not sure if i remember correctly but i think i saw certain dell laptop with ICH7M chip that where using 7.x option rom (i think it was 7.0.0.xxxx) so if you want to experiment, there is possible that certain 7.x series might work with ICH7.

While digging througt Intel site today, I think, I saw even 8.x version working with ICH7.
IMO, it's possible to parse oROM and see all VEN/DEV it works with, but don't remeber for sure tho...
It doesn't really matter, as it only needed to define RAID and let PC boot from it ;)
LET - older oROM still let you boot even if they don't support RAID level with connected HDs.
Never v7 - post a message - not supported RAID level...

If you convice me, it's really useful - I can take a look. ;)
What we need is a program to identify all VEN_ DEV_ the oROM work with.
    Does it exist already?

Hello all. New to this bios modding thing and was wondering about updating the ICH9R to the new 8.x option rom. Would like to know what I need and maybe some steps on how to go about updating the rom. Thank you for your help in this matter.

    Hi Everyone!

I must have been the last person in the world to find out that ABIT went belly-up! Oh, and apparently Elvis has died(!)

I've got the IP35 PRO XE and have just added a Crucial SSD to my system. I read elsewhere that for best compatability I need to be running a BIOS that includes an Intel Option ROM 8.7.0.1007 or higher. In December, Dweller kindly posted a BIOS that included 8.5.0.1030. Before I flash that one - it's definitely more recently than my current one - I'd much prefer to flash with a SSD-friendly newer Intel version. Too much to hope for? I'd really appreciate anyone's help.

You can get 8.9.1.1002.bin early in this thread. Or pull the newest one from Intel BIOS.

My mistake for not being clearer but I need it working and supporting RAID - the 8.9.1.1002 I saw in post 234 was pulled by post 236.

In answer to your other suggestion, I'm comfortable flashing a BIOS, but nowhere near comfortable enough to try and put one together myself.

I.e. you want somebody to make a BIOS for IP35 PRO XE with 8.9.0.1023, right?
I'm not a modder either - post a link to original BIOS, I'm sure somebody will help you shortly.

Post a link to the stock BIOS of your choosing and I will create the BIOS for you with latest ROMs (and if you want SLIC 2.1, specify which manufacturer).

There is a replace option, try that and don't delete and insert.

Yep you should NOT delete and add new one, because it screws up with pointers and it does not find new option rom in this case, you should just replace...
