I think I tried pretty much all of the Intel Matrix Storage option ROMS in this thread, and none of them worked for my Asus G50vt laptop. The system boots but if RAID is enabled and its bios is loaded, I get the message "Incompatible hardware". I believe this is because laptops use ICH9-M instead of ICH9-R for the PM45(as opposed to P45) chipset.

The reason I am trying to update this option ROM is because when RAID is enabled and the drives are setup in a stripe set array, I get pauses and random moments of freezing in Vista64. Startup and shutdown increase a couple minutes each, excluding the controller bios load. The drives both work fine individually in SATA mode. Maybe updated RAID firmware would fix this?

The problem is finding a bios with a similar but updated option ROM. Ive tried bios files from a variety of makers, some of them I couldn't access properly, and the ones I was able to access showed a very strange option ROM for the controller. Had 'development copy' written over a buncha times with not for release also mentioned, this was viewed with a hex editor.

So wtf? Ive heard asus doesnt hasnt included the updated option ROM in their bios, how am I supposed to get this s**t working properly?

this issue is weird... might not be option roms fault but something else... however what i have no idea... my advice would be, try those 2 disks on some desktop computer where you can update and try some other two disks on your laptop. If you can ofc.

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Option ROM v9.6.0.1014 does not function properly with an abit IP35 Pro using beta 18 BIOS. AHCI Option ROM screen spits out the "incompatible HW" error when attempting to run the controller in RAID mode. Does this really matter when running in AHCI, however?

Sorry for outing me as a NOOB: But is there something like a step by step how-to for exchanging the rom? Or did I overread it?
I am asking out of curiosity. I have a P5Q and I am interested if updating the roms would improve my board too.
Could someone maybe help me out?
    Thanks in advance

P5Q uses AMI Bios, so you need to get AMI Bios Tools (thread in this forum)
    Short advise:
Load Bios, select Replace, select module to replace, choose file with newer module, press button replace and save.

On the other side, all necessary infos are in this thread, read it.

    Maybe RAID 9.6 won't work with P5Q (9.5 didn't) latest working was 8.9.1. Give it a try.

    I was thinking the same.

Does anybody know whether anything newer than 8.5.0.1030 works on an IP35 Pro?

In MMTools you can see Device ID of Module in "RunLoc".
For Intel Raid there should be "8086:2822" like in modulename in ".NEW_B10CK5_20100312\Intel_RAID_for_SATA"
    It's an PCI Option Rom.

ICH9MR = ICH9M too??? Anyone try these on laptops? I couldn't get most of them to work on my Asus G50 on Pm45 chipset, nothing over v8.0.0 and thats what is in bios.

hm? p6t? i had that version of jmb from few months ago but it didnt work on my mobo... however it was not extracted from p6t bios, but from some mobo with p55 chipset. I checked latest p6t bios i could find (1303) and it doesnt have jmb 1.08.01 but some 1.06.xx, so can you post link to this bios?

Huh! That might explain the rumor I heard about jmicron using some kind of "fake" o-rom...
    Really weird...

Intel Raid 9.6.0.1014 works with ASUS P5Q-E BIOS 2101.
Recognized existend RAID5 Array, booted flawless, no "Incompatible Hardware" Message like in 9.5.0
Will test ASUS P5Q Deluxe and Premium when at home.

    edit:
ASUS P5Q Premium 2201 and ASUS P5Q Deluxe 2301 modded with Intel Raid 9.6.0.1014 work too.
Tested with 6 HDDs in Raid0 at Premium and 4 HDDs in Raid5 at Deluxe board (init and 24h usage).

    edit2:
All work with Marvell 6121 L72a (no raid option for marvell), can't get stripped L73 working
