Firmware for the standalone Jmicron JMB363 raid card is now up to 1.19

If anybody has the latest firmware module for the JMB363 onboard version (for AMI bios), please help the community by putting it up!

Can you upload your 1.19 firmware ?

I think that your firmware run with motherboard BIOS

    * but 1.19 is OptionROM program update to JMicron site and not firmware ( last 1.07.00 ) ...

I've got an Asus RE and have just bought 2*vertex2 ssd's. The rest can probably be guessed, but i need to update the Intel Raid Option.
I've looked through a few pages but have not found a later version.
Would also like to ask about the software slic loaders. Have seen a couple of posts about needing to remove them, would this be the case if i just updated the one option?
i've never had to do this before, and can't believe ASUS don't update this, the boards only a couple of years old. Also OCZ for not making the problems clear.

    thanks.

    Hi

After I have spent quite some time searching the internet, I'm trying my luck here:

I have a Blitz Formula (I know, quite old) and tried to run two Mushkin Callisto Deluxe SSD in Raid0. However, the two SSD are not detected if SATA Settings in Bios are set to RAID mode, only if set to IDE mode. I suppose the reason is the old Intel Matrix Storage Manager Option Rom (7.5.0.1017). Is it possible to mod the Bios of the Blitz Formula? It never turns up in this forum?

On page 4 there is a short description of how to replace the pci option roms. Is it really that easy, or do I have to replace other modules as well? If it is that easy, the only question that remains is, how to know which roms to replace with which one, since they have different Ids. Do I have to replace the first one in the old bios with the first one of the new one and so on?

"OK this is procedure for ami bios, you open your original bios in mmtool and you extract ALL pci option rom modules. Name then so you know what module is what, for example pci1, pci2.... then you open them in hexeditor and check what module number is your ich option rom, also make SURE they are same size, since i saw 79k ich option roms and 64k option roms, have no idea why they are different size and i wouldnt try change them if they are also some mobos are using seperate ich AHCI option roms (some mobos with award bios), so just make sure your are replacing correct one and same size. Then you just replace ich module with your new one in mmtool, save bios and you are done."

I'm sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm just desperate for finding a solution. Thanks a lot for any help.

Any one got a newer rom than ICH9R v8.9.0.1023? Thats the highest one i found so far...
I now run ICH10R on my Blitz extreme with out problems, but the chip is originally ICH9R so it feels better with that kind of rom^^

    @Ardamin
Yes it's seems to be that easy :) you have to load the bios that contain the rom you like with mmtool, then extract it. open it with a Hex editor, there u can see if it's the correct rom, it will say "RAID for SATA". Then u load, again with mmtool, your bios and replace the rom's. Try to extract it again and open it with Hex editor to see if it was success...

This is how i did it, correct me if im wrong...

It did work, thanks a lot for the advice. However, cautious as i am, I only took version 8.5.x.x, since the newer Roms are larger than 64k. Has anyone tried out ROMS that have a different size than the original one, or is this impossible?

My original rom was 64KB and the new one is 76,5KB and it seems to work. I have a RAID 1 from before flashing and it's still intact. This evening i gonna install a RAID 5, hopefully without any trouble...

I think the slot that contains the rom is bigger and therefore this is possible. This is just speculations not hard fact...

    EDIT:
Just did a RAID5 with 3 disks and it works perfectly :) I don't have trouble anymore with disks going off-line as i had with original optionRom.

Has anyone tried modding the award bios option roms of an EVGA Classified (E759 or E760) board? According to CBROM they are postioned at the end of the bios:

I replaced jmb363 rom with the newer 1.08.01 version and the Raid rom with the 9.6.0.1014 version. Readded the option roms and ensured the order was unchanged. The modded bios looks like:

Now I am bit wary of flashing my bios as I don't want to turn this 400 dollar board into a brick, but I am awfully annoyed with the slow startup of the jmb363 and intel raid controller. Recently the raid controller even decided to drop one of my disk out of the array and I'd like to prevent this from happening again, so I tought updating the option rom would be a good start.

Flash it. Worst thing that will happen is your storage controllers might throw some errors, but you can just flash the stock BIOS again. All you've changed is the option ROMs, the rest of the BIOS is intact, so there should be no issues at all.

I have tested the following Intel RAID OROMs with my abit IP35 Pro:

    8.7.0.1007
    8.8.0.1009
    8.9.0.1023
    8.9.1.1002
    9.5.0.1021
    9.6.0.1014

None worked when set to RAID operation mode. It seems that 8.5.0.1030 will be the "final" OROM for this board.

Thanks for the new rom testeursoft. Do you know how to replace the 64k with a 85k rom in a AMI ASUS BIOS. NEED help with this for a SSD raid setup. MMTool will replace the same size or smaller but not larger unless I'm missing something.
Tried deleting the rom and replacing but it doesn't show up in the bios. If anyone can help please.

    Thanks,

it replaces with larger as well, if you have enough free space...

The free space is the problem(Rom space exceeded 154 ch bytes) when trying to replace the Rom with MMTool, which is why I tried to delete and insert the option ROM, but the new ROM doesn't show up. Untouched ASUS Commando 1901 Bios is 1024 KB. If there is a 64 KB version of the newer ROM or a how to to get the space please let me know. Really want to do the work myself with some proper info.

    Thanks

So managed to get some progress with the Intel ROM first had to replace the Primary Lan which wasn't hardly commpressed with the new one which did compress. But the PCI location in the MMTool list has changed from LAN,RAID,LAN to RAID,LAN,LAN! Do you think any of these above will cause a problem?
Second trying to update all ROM's possible so far have been able to replace the intel, both Yukons, and the JMicron, when trying to replace the Memory sizing run out of space (ROM space execced 154 ch bytes) is there any padding that can be removed with out deleting any modules. So far it has been a choice of the Intel RAID or the Memory sizing but can't do both. Would like to stay stock as possible other than updating roms and the such!

    Any thoughts or Ideas Suggestions
    Thanks
