Dear Sir / madam, Does anyone know how to convert Intel .bio format bios file to .rom file formart so that mmtool can read the .rom file format? Thanks.
Hi! I haven´t been able to try this yet. I´m also stuck with extraction of the RSAT rom-file from the Intel bio-file provided in the update package. This thread suggests using a hex-editor to remove the header from the bio-file and then just change the extension to .rom and open it with mmtool. I didn´t have any luck with this or maybe I´m doing it the wrong way. hxxp://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/135-Extract-AMI-Gateway-OEM-BIOS
Thank you for your replies. Oh, I think it's too technical for me to modify .bio to .rom, I have to give up and wait for somebody else to extract the rom file. Have a nice day!
Thank you so much SoLoR for your info and the bin file. Will try later. But a little bit worry since the bin file (both version 10.5.0.916 & 10.5.0.976 are the same) is 120kb, which is significantly larger than version version 10.1 (e.g. 10.1.0.1008 rom file size is aroune 85kb). THANK YOU AGAIN
Thanks! I tried this rom on my ASUS P7H57D-V EVO. Now I can´t even get into the RAID configuration utility. Going back to 10.1.0.1008 version.
ye it doesnt work with Rampage Formula (x48/ich9r) as well, however it doesnt compleatly lock up boot procedure then previous 10.5 versions did.
It seems that Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.5.x.x version is not fully compatible with P55 / Q55 / Q57 chipset. Could it possibly because that the 10.5 has embedded "Smart Response Technology"?
Realtek LAN Option Rom version 2.40 is available at hxxp://218.210.127.131/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Possibly, seems that intel want to reserve this feature for their z68 chipset. If that´s true I´m also out of luck with my H67 based board. hxxp://xtreview.com/addcomment-id-16392-view-intel-smart-response-technology.html hxxp://semiaccurate.com/2010/11/16/intel-z68-chipset-rumours-start/
Thank you SoLor & medac67 for your opinions. I wish Intel will make it compatible, too! Anyway, the Intel RST option rom 10.1.0.1008 is stable for my Asus Maximus motherboard at the moment. Let's wait and see!
Hi all. I have read through this threat and I am excited by the possibility to update my option ROMs. Being an absolute noob, can some some on help me update ASUS latest BIOS for the Maximus III Formula. I am particularly interested in the intel sata rom, jmicron sata roms and the LAN rom. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Directions to programs and instructions welcomed. I am a blank canvas.
You need MMTOOL V3.22 (hxxp://bios-mods.com/downloads.html]) 1. Load the original BIOS in the mmtool 2. Select Replace tab 3. Select desired Option-ROM to replace 4. Browse for the updated Option-ROM (the following option-rom can be found in this thread) PCI (intel rst option-rom: RunLoc 8086:2822) PCI (jmicron jmb363 option-rom: 197B:2363) PCI (realtek lan rom file: RTGBPXE.NIC 10EC:8168) 5. Use Replace button to replace it (one item at a time) 6. Save the new BIOS with a desired name 6. Flash new BIOS as usual. 7. Good luck!
Dear SoLoR, After extract with phonixtools, there are a lot of files in the DUMP directory, do you have a "quick way" to find out which one is Intel RSP rom? I don't have any clues in the file names.
Looks like bytes 0 - D is corrupted at offset 0 / has some junk in it also the checksum does not compute to 0. This is not a valid Option Rom module. Removed attachment. Please see post #561 for the corrected file. Thanks i4u1
Not quite fixed. About first bytes - right sig "55 AA" at 0. But ROM size (at byte offs 2 *512b) exceeded by 2 zero bytes in this file. however not affecting the checksum (mod 0x100) == 0 but just useless - thus extra trimming for 2 bytes. Now it's ready.
New Intel RAID Option ROM 10.5.0.1034. Extracted be him from Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 (bios F6c beta). Functions on my ASUS Sabertooth 55i.
