It enhances the support for larger disks. Also, for intel, the raid speed actually depends on the boot rom, especially the rebuilding speed of raids.
Intel RST 10.5.1.1070 option rom works beautifully on my Asus Maximus III Gene and EVGA P55Micro (both with Intel P55 chipset). The Intel RST Utility can load without any problems.
Being a more adventurous person, I tested the 10.5.1.1070 on my Asus P5Q WS and it works fantastic although all other 10.5.x.xxxx did not work on my motherboard. Note that I currently am running a raid 0 array so I can't speak for any other configuration, also I built my raid array with the 10.1.0.1008 rom so that may contribute to my success. I also thought that the size was a good identifier that the rom would work but the fact that it now works with a 120kb rom over previous working 60-80kb roms I don't believe that any more. I hope this helps. Also I would like to thank who ever started this thread its been great to get the practical info for updating ones bios. Also, the new v10.6.0.1002 driver along with the new rom, at least in my case, seems to have speed up my system noticeably over previous versions, I didn't run any benchmarking tools but I can definitely say it has a lot less latency when opening folders and loading programs or games.
Hi and congratulation for your success.I assume you use the latest bios version (1205) and because i have the same is it possible to sent me the bios file? Thanks. Sorry but i was wrong about my motherboard.I have P6T WS Professional.
10.5.1.1070 does not work on P6T. I almost bricked my board as it did not load intel rom and could not go to ALT-F2 to reload working bios. Removing battery solved all
The boot sequence did not load anything past initial screen.. Blinking cursor was the only thing after device list.
I can also confirm that the 10.5.1.1070 does NOT work with Asus P6T Deluxe. Reset cmos, reflashed - back to normal.
I'd guess that that we're screwed ^^ Newer versions of the Intel raid orom, seems to be larger then our mainboard (Asus P6T Deluxe) can support.
Hi, I have a Dell Precision 390 with ICH7R. Is it possible to use the new option rom V10.5? My option rom version at the moment is 5.6.2.1002. Thanks in advance. By the way Intel RST 10.6.0.1002 Drivers work on my current configuration. Is it possible to mod the after 10.1 drivers to make them work with ICH8-M in AHCI mode? I want to go on using Intel RST on all of my older systems with future OSes like Windows 8, too. Regards, Jelges
If BIOS setting are the matter to preserve - then unplugging all SATA from ICHx will allow to boot to BIOS with alt+f2 / EZFlash etc. OROM allows this function? Tested on RAID0? What's the speed difference? I thought all data-safe operations only allowed thru standalone raidcfg(32) or intel rapid stor. console.
RAID0 volumes can not be rebuilt, only restored or reinstalled. RAID1 volumes are rebuilt within Windows by the Intel Rapid Storage Driver. There is no need to invoke the rebuild by any method, the OROM initiates it automatically. I don't believe the speed of the rebuilding depends on the OROM version, as it communicates with the driver via information stored on the participating disks. It is only invoked/executed to support OS boot from the Raid array and it stops when the driver receives control.
Anyone ever get this working on an EFI BIOS? I have an ASUS P8H67-M LX, but I have no idea where to start. I can see the header structure in the Phoenix mod tool, but I have no idea what any of it means or if I can even use this tool to insert a new OROM.
engineering sample /n - don't check ROM id So it's probably/relatively easy to flash some crap into flash-ROM. lucky U R Did you use the same drivers with different OROMs when rebuilt? Can you post a screen of what different OROMs allow in their menus? Or it's just your personal experience on getting RAIDx different behavior on 8.x, 9.x and 10.x? Maybe SMART & PSU the answers too in this detection of rate of failures
