maximinimaus, you are right that we can check the device ID. But the Intel RST Option Rom 10.6 works for almost all intel's past Raid-chipsets (P55, H6x, P6x, Z68, but also old chipsets like 10R, 9R, 8R). So I raised the question that probably this version 3.x will work for P55 or other old series chipsets.
I see the benefits for stopping the one driver for all but it sure makes computer repair easy when you only have to have one file to update computers with instead of multiple. I haven't even looked into what the new chipsets offer. I have seen some benchmarks of the newer processors and was a bit disappointed so didn't bother getting more details. The only thing i heard was that the new SATA controller is being released with half of the first proposed numbered of ports. I think some of the SSD manufacturers were trying to use that info to "prove" all the sandforce 22xx BSOD issues were intel's fault.
maximinimaus, I hate to bother you more but I have been trying to learn some of this myself. The other day I downloaded the tools to try and update the SLIC on the BIOS. I downloaded AMI Slic Tool 1.62 (EDIT the folder and zip said 1.45 but when launched the program says 1.62 for AMITool) and tried opening my BIOS. It claimed it wasn't an AMI BIOS. The version of MMTool that came with that file also wouldn't open it. I did find a newer version of MMTool 4.5 and it opened the file up and in there it showed AMIBoardInfo. Am I using an old version or the wrong tool to try and inject a DELL Slic 2.1 into the BIOS? I was going to do this to the new one you modded before testing. I am sure there is something simple I am overlooking as I am still in complete newb status.
I should had used proper terms. When I say the number of drivers I mean the executable that houses the drivers.
The device id for all newer southbridges(from 9X on) which support RAID is 8086 2822 for desktop chipsets and 8086 282A for mobile ones. Version 10.6 has the ROM device id 2822 and supports also device id 282A, which are specified in the supported device list in the ROM. The above mentioned chipsets identify themselves always with 2822 or 282A and want the specific ROM. Version 3.x has the ROM device id 2826 and only this id in the supported device list, so it won't fit for the older southbridges. Regarding the size of it(89 KB), the same as the ROMs prior 10.5(85 KB), I doubt they contain support for the Z68 SSD caching. Another point is that the BIOS must also support the ROM. My HP 8530w BIOS only supports at maximum version 8.9.1.1003 for ICH9M-E southbridge. I was able to flash 10.0.0.1046, also got the RAID screen after pressing CTRL + I, boot the boot didn't continue. There are also posts in this thread telling that they couldn't upgrade the BIOS with newer ROMs.
Normally you are not concerned with the inf files. There is mostly an installer(Setup or so). Even if you install the driver via Device Manager, normally you have to point the folder containing the inf files and Windows will pick up the right one. Intel Rapid Storage Enterprise is Alpha, don't forget it.
Someone in the OCZ forum flash successfully using your modded OROM. Thanks. Once I get someone to add SLIC 2.1 DELL, I will test it out. I tried adding the SLIC myself, but kept getting errors. Will research it more next week when i get some time. I just wanted to let you know you did well with the mod. Hopefully, this helps eliminates some of the BSOD issues. Ultimately, I am not sure if they will ever solve the issue.
Hi all, after reading through this read I learned that some managed to flash ASUS P7H57 EVO with a new option ROM supporting RAID 5 > 3tb. Following this thread I downloaded MMTool. Can someone explain in little more detail, what to replace or even post a custom bios for P7H57 EVO with latest raid option rom? Thanks in advance
See my previous post #651 in this thread. 1. Load the original BIOS in the mmtool 2. Select Replace tab 3. Select desired Option-ROM to replace 4. Browse for the updated Option-ROM (the following option-rom can be found in this thread) PCI (intel rst option-rom: RunLoc 8086:2822) 5. Use Replace button to replace it (one item at a time) 6. Save the new BIOS with a desired name 6. Flash new BIOS as usual. 7. Good luck!
Hi ! Probably puting a post in the wrong thread , i'm putting the link here : ttp://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/4071-New-AMI-BIOS-tool-for-performing-SSV2-3-and-Dynamic-SLIC-Modification/page184?p=497310&viewfull=1 Someone could help me please ? Thx !
don't you know where it from? extracted or provided somehow (semi)official by qualcom? Are there new drivers as well? And nothing other than AR813x-815x (heres 1969:2060/1063) there maybe AR812x(1969:1026)? Where did it come from? some src ftp?
