Sorry if its a little off topic, but is anyone able to update an award bios? I'm trying to update my Gigabyte p35-ds3r.f13 bios with the newest intel option rom from x55ud3r bios using cbrom182. I wasn't sure if i could use the ones from this thread since its an award bios.

I tried Yen's method of releasing all the modules from pci and below and readding them to keep the same order. I did this because I believe the meminit module is causing me problems. Can anyone help me out with this? Thx

Same on Asus Maximus Formula SE x38 ICH9R, no go with same error... I guess X58 gives the same error aswell (?)...

Probably the exact same error, just missing text...

There will most likely be plenty of X58/X48/X38 Option ROM's in the upcoming weeks to play with, just not this one...

AFAIK, most of the option roms for AWARD and AMI are interchangeable, such as JMicron363 Raid, Intel RAID for SATA, Marvell 88SE61xx, Yukon PXE.

yes lan option room is from booting of the internet and stuff like that in general, might be some compatibility with certain routers as well altho doubtful. It wierd that intel option rom 8.9.0.1023 doesnt work on DFI p45 mobo... there shouldnt be any reason that it doesnt, are you sure you moded correctly?

Actually I've tried 3 Intel RAID for SATA option ROMs, 8.7.0.1007, 8.8.0.1009, and 8.9.0.1023, on my DFI DK P45 and no luck at all. The one that works is the original 8.5.0.1030, which is exactly 64K (65,536) Bytes long. I strongly doubt that AWARD bios can't accept option ROM longer than 64K Bytes.

So you think its just a limitation of the Award BIOS? There's plenty of free room left on my BIOS chip.

Thanks for the info genuineintel. I'll try with the roms posted in this thread. On you dfi board using cbrom195 do you have the minit and gv3 modules? From my googling it sounds like those cause problems when adding or removing modules.

I've tried just doing the /pci release on the roms I want to replace, then /pci *.bin to put them back in. It rearranges the order and when I flash it just fail overs to my backup bios.

Then I tried to release all modules from /pci down and then readd them and had the same issue. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I see a gv3 on my DFI bios before and after mod. I dont see a minit module though. Would replacing the gv3 from a board that came with the newer RAID BIOS help? Or adding a minit module if the other bios has it?

That is just my guess, not conclusion.

BTW, I did replace 8.0.x.x with 8.9.0.1023 in the ASUS P5Q Deluxe BIOS 2201, which is AMI, and the BIOS works great.

This is the BIOS module list from D45PD925.BIN (DFI LP DK P45T2RS PLUS). There is MEMINIT.BIN (can be extracted using /1pe32) and PPMINIT.ROM (/gv3). Which one is the minit?

I am trying to update the rampage formula 0902 bios with the intel raid option rom 8.9.1023 using the replace function of mmtool, and keep getting an error "boot block in file is not valid".

    What am I doing wrong?

Is it cause the new intel rom is larger than the original?

It seems to compress it more when i replace it..

Asus P5E64 WS Evolution, AMI BIOS 0802
Works perfectly with Intel_RAID_for_SATA - 8.9.0.1023 and latest drivers. No more constant errors on RAID.
Thanks, will try other ROM's upgrades lately.
By the way - can somebody explain how to change to Intel_Serial_ATA_AHCI_BIOS_Version_iSrc_1.20E ?
