Great! Yes, the technicians wonderstick is what I need to build. ONE VERSION OF EACH OS - From what I understand now, I only need one version of WVista, W7, and W8 for local customers. This is because I can use Windows and Office Toolkit 2.4.3 to first find the original key, and then convert the customer's version to the correct one using only the key. Is that correct? SYS PREPED IMAGES (3) - To ensure that Windows has the configuration settings I need, and all the updates, I need to I need to have a sys prepped image with the latest from this list windowsupdatesdownloader.com/UpdateLists.aspx always included in it. Is that a correct overview of what it would take to begin creating my wonderstick for windows installations?
Created an Image with KMS Server Service installed with demand option and two tasks triggering a batch to activate (start, activate, stop service). Win 8 Pro WMC is already activated after Setup .
With respect to Windows 8... I thought it was possible to simply install any W8 version, change the key to the customers key thereby converting it to their W8 version, and allow activation through normal MS means. Is that incorrect?
A product key can switch the license channel. But it cannot change the SKU/Edition of Windows! So you cannot convert Core to Pro just by entering a Pro key, for example.
WAU/Add features does a bit more than just inserting the key (upgrades the Servicing packages). And it only works from a lower to a higher SKU.
Ok, so here is my first attempt at this. I have till Wed (plenty of time) to re-build two (2) computers (one laptop, one desktop). Both have Windows 7 on them. What is the best course of action on that for a repeatable process. I have the ISOs FROM MS and the customer keys. I need to build a single deployable image from syspreped VM that will work for both complete with updates, Avast, Spybot S&D, and Google Drive. I've never done this before. What do I do first when I get the install done on the VM, what key do I use, and what tools do I need?
So let me get this right you contracted to do work that you've never done before under the guise that you know how to do it ?
As it seems you´re doing this in a more professional way, you should definately do some reading on the topic. Did that myself, as i was bored, and was estonishingly successful after some defeats. Google for 'Audit Mode' and 'Sysprep' and you will find alot of useful tutorials, even as video. In case a problem appears, check back here with explicit questions. Regards
I've re-installed operating systems more times than I can count. I haven't built a repeatable process since the days of W98 second edition.
@Redroad @S1ave77 this type you ride since the beginning He does not even know him what he really wants
