I have no plans of going back to Windows , just a topic of conversation that i wondered if anyone tried it and what your opinions on it were?
I support a couple hundred users, most of which are still using Windows. As a result I need to remain proficient in operating systems from Redmond. About 95% of my personal computing needs are provided by Linux. I have one machine running BSD, several that dual boot Windows and Linux. The rest are Linux only. My opinion is that Windows 10 is a mess. First the draconian policies that you must accept. Second, updates are so buggy many people refuse to install them. And last, Micro$oft keeps changing things that don't need to be changed and fail to fix the things that do.
I've been using Unix/Linux for ~25 odd years, Windows 10 for maybe 5, other flavoiurs of WIndows for many many years, and other operatings systems for years before that It is all horses for courses, whatever suits best for whatever is required, no particular favourites
I worked in IT for close to 50 years, starting on IBM and Sperry-Univac mainframes. In this day and age, I can't think of anyone who works in this field and is not proficient on both Windows and Linux. A lot of the Windows expertise is with Windows Server (still Windows), and the Linux expertise is mostly with Red Hat. As the gentlemen up above said, "horses for courses". And I will add this tidbit: Unix admins uniformly tend to make more money than Windows admins, at least everywhere I worked in corporate America.
12 year Linux user here. I only use Windows for work.{Windows Server} and Adobe Photoshop {Windows 10 Pro}<--- OFFLINE My opinion and thoughts on Windows: I am not interested in useless files being piled up on my main hard drive or the headache of incompatible drivers or useless updates that break functionality.
I've spent the last few days playing about with a old Win 8 machine upgraded to 10 , Windows 10 is way better than 8 but i still prefer Linux.
