Code: C:\Windows\system32>powercfg sleepstudy S0 Low Power Idle is not supported on this machine. Cannot run tool.
I am able to resume the session where i left even though I have to force power down the machine. Moreover there is no Power LED in this laptop which can denote if it is still turned on. Only way is to click the power button once and see if it turns on.
The machine hibernates, so checking states and sleepstudy does nothing, and thinking that a IGPU driver works on battery but not AC, wow. Run - powercfg –devicequery S4_supported, this is what's supported. Might as well try, use AC power, run powershell as admin, run - powercfg -energy -output report.html ,,, after 20sec unplug AC.
Are you using Win->shutdown or signout->sleep or shutdown /h? (Just asking) Get intel graphics and w10, you'll be wow'd, too.
But on a serious note tho, a system of mine with IGHD/W10 would go to hibernation and come out of it quite often without much fuss. But when it comes to going to sleep/standby, more often than not, it would throw BSOD with igdkmd64.sys/VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE while resuming, or wouldn't go at all to sleep. So, yeah!
Even after driver update problem seems to reoccur. Code: C:\Windows\system32>powercfg /requests DISPLAY: None. SYSTEM: [DRIVER] Realtek High Definition Audio (HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS _10280651&REV_1000\4&321661d3&0&0001) An audio stream is currently in use. AWAYMODE: None. EXECUTION: None. PERFBOOST: None.
Problem remains and I am at fix what to do. Revert back to windows 7 or what. Because I do not want to use this incomplete POS. Microsoft is not bothered at all with the bug. Even if a bug is fixed in MS answered still they wont release a patch for that.
If your system has DirectX 11 and not 12 display it seems only way to solve the shutdown, sleep and hibernation problem is to downgrade MEI driver to v9.5xx,
Do you happen to know why this would occur, MEI has nothing to do with this, and there is no reason to even have MEI, unless someone connects to their PC remotely and they use the software that it is designed for, which is for IT purpose remote.
Go to power options and turn off fast start. Power options > choose what the power button does > show options that are currently unavailable. Now uncheck the enable fast start box. Are there any devices in Device Manager that do not have the proper drivers installed? Hibernation gets stuck when the drivers do not properly report their readiness to enter the power down state. Also, unplug everything that can be unplugged (except the power adapter). Pen drives, usb dongles, pen drives etc. We can sort those out later. In older Windows versions there used to be a file called nohiber.txt that gave some clues. I don't think it is there any more.
You mean to say is I should re-enable Fast Start? No devices in device manager who do not have a driver and nothing is plugged except the power adapter. And to answer the previous comment I have Dx12
Windows setup installs default, fail-safe drivers, e.g. Microsoft Basic Adapter for the graphics. You need proper drivers. Please go through device manager and re-check. Did you install the motherboard chipset driver? I'm assuming you have an Intel chipset, so download the latest chipset drivers package and install it, and then run Windows Update to see if it downloads any new drivers.
