Anyone noticed that when clicking about into Device Manager (->My Computer->Properties->Device Manager->Help menu->About Device Manager) still gives the version string: 6.1.7600.16385. This is strange because after installing the SP1 the version should be 6.1.7601.17514, right ? Anyone else has this wrong pre-SP1 version string when clicking 'about' in the help menu of the Device Manager ?
Not every file or component of the OS is updated by a SP. If there were no changes/fixes between SP0 and SP1, then SP1 does not touch it. Both the management console and the device manager plugin (along with all of the standard management console plugins) were not updated, and this is perfectly normal.
Windows7 sp1 standalone doesn't improve your pc performace it takes more space from your pc hard drive and overwrite the original files of windows.Result?Having problems. If you were a windows tester for years you can understand what i mean...
Any noticable change on the OS through Windows Update? Thanks for that. Is there any noticeable change on the OS since I have not noticed any yet on the 6.1.7600.16385 version. I installed SP1 Yesterday on one Ultimate 32bit through windows update which read 44MB but on download it came as 61MB. Installation restart configured 30%, blank screen for about 5 seconds but power stayed on then configured the remaining 70% and took 40min in total to complete.
wow 40 min for a SP install? the SP1 is not showing up in Windows Update for me. only 3 updates that i think are included in the SP. :\
Are you suggesting that there is not much point in installing SP1? My 7 Ultimate is running smoothly as it is right now....
