Anyone know how to extract a Dell bios from the ****.exe?? How to modify the ROM?

    BTW, there's one more interesting command from DOS environment:
    <dell_bios_file.exe> -readromfile
    As far as I can see, it produses a dump of real bios from computer's memory to bios.rom

    I checked it with everest to see the slic table.
    now i have to install a totally fresh windows 7 x64 ultimate to see if i will able to activate but i think u did it man, hé hé hé.
    i couldnt wait until monday, was too long !

    from here : the xps M1330 got a M09 slic into his bios !

    if u want to do it, do exactly the same as i did, all is indicated in this thread.

    update : i'm now installing windows 7 and will report if the mod activated the OS or not but i hope it will.
    when i flashed the crc checksum found no error so it should work but we never know...

    Good one, I didn't find that one
    Here is a couple for anyone wanting to test a flash on a damaged board..
    If you have a bad AC jack or no adapter and want to flash a gz file (such as boards I plan to use for testing) run "-readgzfile -forceit" combined, just make sure the battery is charged... "-factory" bypasses prompts (no keyboard needed if you use autorun or autoexec).

    OMG !!

    It's really working ??? I'm gonna do the same now !!! Are all the hardware working properly ??

    Activation will work for sure, as I used VISTA cert and already banned OEM key, and also used CD SLIC emulator and Windows activated properly, Yeah!

    Could someone post the step by step procedure on how to do it if it works, reading back 25 page to figure it out and not make mistake is not that easy

    Just to add, if you use current Dell exe file you won't get downgrade prompt
    you can run -writeromfile from within windows command window if unsure where the bios rom ends (length),

    I successfully flashed my XPS M1330 with the slic 2.1 mod. I can confirm that Windows 7 has been activated. All hardware seems to be working fine. Thanks bbsc!!
