Anyone know how to extract a Dell bios from the ****.exe?? How to modify the ROM?

    Exactly, all the tested bioses so far work (as far as I know)but none of them are the same as these. That is why I keep making note of this as I do the mods. I think this is very sound and almost positive about it. Another good reason to include RW reports with every request.

    For XPS 420, do you think it would be possible to append the gzip'ed modded bios back to the exe file using a hex editor so readgzipfile wouldn't be needed?

    I am just curious :)

    I don't know. I aqm not familiar with C++ programming, actually I am not even a programmer. there would be some sort of compression to deal with for sure. We may have to wait for someone with knowledge in that field to comment on that... Surely someone will come up with a solution to that..

    shakeyplace, I can confirm that your bios mod for XPS 420 together with DCCU... IS WORKING!!!!!!!

    I created the bios .exe file from your modded .hdr file using DCCU and ran it from within Windows and upon reboot (automatic) my system was activated. You are the best ever!!!

    Great so far no one has had failures, or at least they havn't been able to report them, hopefully someone is tracking all the verified releases, there is sure lots of posts to go through
    Much of the credit must go to BBSC as well, if it were not for his fine work and much help from Yen and others none of this would be possible
    Can you please share the exe file with us?
    maybe a link to the DDCU download?... - found it..

    BTW, that was one of the ones with the mystery byte switched with the 4 length bytes I was worried about. This is really excellant news!!
