Anyone know how to extract a Dell bios from the ****.exe?? How to modify the ROM?

    I was worried too as I didn't really want to brick my $2700+ system. Part of me thought 'what the hell' and so I tried and am glad I did. You do realize though... you'll be soon flooded with mod requests from all over. I hope you're up for it ;o)

    So could someone give us instructions, a rough run down on what to do in winhex :) since it looks like 2.1 can be inserted :D

    agreed most of us should be able to do this I already have successfully modded 2 award bios machines with zero issues.

    :)

    Would like to be able to cover my dell machines as well.

    Wow! This thread moves fast. I've been working for hours trying to manually extract the BIOS image for the XPS 420 from the exe and replace it with a modified one. Just about got to point where I was ready to test it, but you guys passed me up!

    Unzip them to a bootable dos disk, boot from dos disk, Type Win7 at the dos prompt

    No you're missing a step:

    1.5- Politely ask shakeyplace (or another knowledgable person) to modify your hdr file to add in the 2.1 SLIC info. Patiently wait...

    Then you take that modified .hdr file and follow the rest of the steps.

    I'm half asleep so i misread something. Think i will get back to sleep cause i think shakeyplace still need the rw slic report for my current bios.
