I upgraded my tablet yesterday and now the adaptive brightness doesn't work. It automatically updated to the latest generic Intel HD 4000 drivers via windows update but they don't support brightness control at all. Tapping the brightness button in the action center does nothing. I tried to reinstall the Windows 8.1 drivers but stupid samsung does not provide drivers except through their POS samsung update software, which of course is not compatible with Windows 10. I can only find Windows 8.0 drivers and they don't seem to fix the problem. I think I remember having this issue with Windows 8.1 but the samsung updater had a Windows 8.1 specific patch that fixed the problem. I emailed samsung but I'm not expecting them to be very helpful. Anyone here have any ideas? My retinas are burning!
Yep, I think I had this problem ever since I installed the first preview build. What I did was search for the 8.1 brightness fix and apply it to Windows 10. It works perfectly. However, I just checked, and Samsung seems to have finally pushed drivers for Windows 10 through Samsung Update, which include this fix. If you want to do it manually, though, go to the registry, open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000 and change the FeatureTestControl value to f908. You'll have to restart the computer.
Thanks! Samsung support are clowns. I was just arguing with their online chat because they insisted that I was using a beta version of Windows 10 because it doesn't officially come out until tomorrow and they were unwilling to help me.
