    Just a simple question

Is there any evidence publicly available that Microsoft have ever successfully prosecuted an individual for using a "non authorized" copy of Windows or Office?

I agree that people selling pirate software probably deserve all they get, but I am referring to an individual who is only using Windows for his own use, and maybe giving a copy to a friend.

Nope and never will. Piracy is the best way of testing software. Without piracy, MS would have closed its doors long ago, because customers would've stopped buying their software. That's valid for any software company.
They will prosecute only a company that uses pirated software, but not an individual.

they haven't yet, because they just rolled out their "data collection", wait a few years and see how your win10 screenshots and such will be subpoenaed in court as evidence against you
