Nobody really knows. And it doesn't make sense to make assumptions, as this only causes panic and detracts from the validity of the privacy issue discussions.
geo-prod.dodsp.mp.microsoft.com.nsatc.net i thought the acronym geo is popular enough to know what's stand for
I blocked everything in the O&O list except windows update, I did all privacy tweaks in Windows, I have LTSB which not suppose to have Bing Weather rubbish, you tell me what the geo means in my case?
Going back to 7 is no long term solution, one day it 's EOL and than? We should complain about telemetry and spying, we should try to disable as far we can and hope that MS sees the light that this is not the way we wants.
"O&O ShutUp10 - This program replaces only the settings in the registry, and no longer does anything." how true is this?
This is correct. It does not just do registry tweaks. It also disables some stuff via group policy and after rebooting and doing several tests, these policies ares still in place. I use netmon 3.4 and I have no "SearchUI.exe" trying to connect to anything like the previous poster has.
This is probably just the `Bing ping` which it does whenever you start typing in the Start menu for example. Block SearchUI with a firewall rule and try again. There's also another bit of proof that SU10's changes aren't "ignored by Windows". Get a tablet, change the setting for `location of the device`, and reboot. The orientation sensor will be disabled and auto rotation will no longer be available. Change the setting back, and it'll work again. So clearly Windows does not "ignore" the settings changes it makes.
You said right, "suggests". You better check again, with any sniffer and you will see every single telemetry that has supposed to be blocked by O&O (who are partners of m$) are not blocked. Run any sniffer for at least 12 hours and you will have a not so nice surprise
