Abbodi.... Pls read my post four posts up again and see my edits. OEM keys apparently don't work. EDIT: OK, I skulked around the internet and found a valid W8 retail key. The 8.0 updater took it anyhow, BUT now the updater says I have no internet connection, even though I rally do have one. BTW, isn't it shameful that MS makes me go to a pirate site to get a key that allows me to DL software that I have LEGAL right to have??? What's wrong with this picture?? Boobear
How clever of them. What's worse is that I've posted on their (MS) support forum and haven't heard a word yet. Just like I said before a huge CF!!! Good thing Ballmer's gone.
Searching the internet for a retail W8 key generator, just to be able to do the download. Then use my own valid OEM key for the actual install. Unfortunately any site that CLAIMS to have a keygen, makes you jump thru all these hoops like surveys, install all manner of parasitic software on your machine, or SOMETHING just to get the file you want. No thanks, to those MF'ers!! boobear
Save yourself the hassle looking for valid keys, as they last only a very short time. Download the Windows 8.1 Iso you find here in the depository and apply the updates after installation. Less work, less trouble. I do all what I do because I've too much time to spare and like to experiment
I looked at the repository and found the magnet: code. I know what magnet links are but never saw them "expressed" in that manner. How do I use that code?? Boowho??
Referring to my old uTorrent 2.2.1, copy the magnet link, then open uTorrent, click on File -> New -> Add Torrent from URL -> paste the magnet link if its not auto pasted -> OK
Shadow, I've DL'ed what I THOUGHT was the right ISO the 64 bit core/pro version. Unfortunately, the update installed as a PRO version and my original (OEM) key is only for the slimmest (core??) version. Help?? boobear
