@xinso I never investigated th matter myself but where the "image version" came from? Usually it's the same or few version back of the LCU version, but sometimes it's stuck to .0 (or .16384) no matter the LCU and /or the SSU installed. That happens often doing normal WU updates, and rarely doing offline updates. Any idea about this? Thanks
"Image Version" depend on the used Dism.exe older (pre 1703 or 1709) reflect version of DismHost.exe of the image then it's updated to reflect SSU version, then LCU version (i guess it choose the higher version in this case)
@abbodi1406 Thanks for the explanation! I'm currently typing on 20348.1006, the image version is 10.0.20348.681 while dismhost.exe is 10.0.20348.1 BTW dism.exe and most other dism components are .681, so it fits with what you wrote for newer builds.
Old and New builds are different. e.g. 10240 CU build is shown in registry "UBR", isn't it? But, Image Version: 10.0.10240.19291. not UBR. So? LCU 10240.19387 Code: K:\Windows\servicing\Version\10.0.10240.19291 servicingstack? (Yes.) (Dism.exe, 10240.18818.) And LCU 19044 2075, Image Version: 19044.2075 servicingstack 19041.1940 Dism.exe, 19041.844. (But this PC's command line shows 19041.746 on some of my cases. I don't know about yours.) (Sorry, I just touched 10240 these days.)
Win 8.x is even more complicated, there UBR is often != kernel/LCU version. Consistence is not best MS' quality
Win 7/8.x UBR is always = LCU version kernel isn't always, not even in Win 10/11 quick test: Dism.exe 15063 and earlier: Image Version = DismHost.exe Version Dism.exe 16299 and later: Online Image Version = SSU version / Offline Image Version = the highest of SSU or LCU version
Say the version of Win8.1 I have handy has UBR = 20571, BuildLabEX = 20564 dismhost.exe = 19397, dism.exe =19408, ntosknl.exe = 20564, kernel32.dll = 20389 image version = 20564 LCU should be 20571, SSU should be 20564 (so at least image version is not the highest between LCU and SSU) Not exactly easy to tell which build I'm on
Q: Is it possible to replace the files of 10240.16384 with those of pending packages? Would it do? Unless the pending package build is compatible with 10240.16384, or the setup will go wrong. But most old LCUs have disappeared.
Hint: The files are still there, they just removed the links from websites. Often you will find the direct links to .msu (or cabs) here in the hotfix thread. I faced this just yesterday, I needed 15063.786 and 15063.850, but on catalog only the delta updates are listed. I downloaded the full updates anyway.

Especially when you are stabbed in the back not by a user that had a discussion with you, or by a kid in the middle of a hormonal tempest, but from an unknown user, with almost no messages, let alone a history of being expert or even willing to help. It may be just a clone of someone that lacks the courage to attack from the main account.. Whatever.... thanks for your words.
ntosknl / BuildLabEX never been in the image/wim version play kernel32.dll version is used for wim if Dism.exe is 17763 or lower yeah, i just tested offline Win 7, gives SSU version, even though LCU version is higher i guess UBR is ignored for non 10.0.x images offline 22000 gives LCU version (higher than SSU) offline 20348 gives LCU version (lower than SSU)
