Would it be possible to have a common « « « repository » or unstaged image for storing in a single place all packages for both client and server editions ?

    How can I do that?
How do I know which packages I should install again?

This is feasible, you need to implement it yourself.

Extract missing files from esd/cab or follow xinso's advice.

So what will you need to extract from 25398.1 Winre.wim, Files or Registry keys ?

First thing you will need to do is build ServerDatacenterCore_en-us.esd into iso, so you can extract Winre.wim

If files are need from 25398.1 Winre.wim, i would

    1.Build ServerDatacenterCore_en-us.esd into iso, then extract Winre.wim

    2.mount 25398.1 Professional to C:\mount

    3.mount 25398.1 Winre.wim to C:\mount2

    4.Use these commands
    Code:
Use "PowerRun 1.6\Command Prompt" to run move commands.

    move C:\mount2\Windows\servicing\Packages\*.cat C:\mount2\Windows\WinSxS\
    move C:\mount2\Windows\servicing\Packages\*.mum C:\mount2\Windows\WinSxS\
    move C:\mount2\Windows\WinSxS\Manifests\*.manifest C:\mount2\Windows\WinSxS\

    Dism /Image:C:\mount /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:\mount2\Windows\WinSxS

If it's Registry keys, then who know which ones to extract ?
