And another question to xinso, you definitely know custom updates better than most of us. What would happen to AzureStackHCI with added ported roles/features on installing updates? I assume, that if we added packages directly, not touching edition MUMs, LCUs would install fine, but they would update only components, originally in this edition, not added. Similar like we have with Dedup, - added package doesn't break LCUs, but it doesn't update on W10, even when is included in LCU, cause it is not in W10 edition packages (LCU is one for W10 and ServerCore annual builds, where role is updated). For 26100 the SVHDflt has once already been updated, those of us who uses Hyper-V VMs with Shared VHDS had to re-add package to fix a known issue with dynamic disks So what would be a long-term plan to update ported roles? I did. I compared what is missing and found only theese folders are missing. Are they have cab or esd files? They are very big folders but missing in my build. Used your registry tweak too. Other apps was in there. Only client ones absent \Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx When i have tested your build there was two oobe screen.One was clasic and other was like windows 11 client. In mine there is only one oobe screen. Only classic one. I think i have found the problem. I add datacenter desktop successfully. When i test target edition it said error 2 edition not found. After i added azurecore without deleting desktop packages and probably it overwrited desktop packages again. I should only add corespecific packages to have edition again. At least i have a working way. Will try your way too. My image was 3.5gb. Your image was 2.5gb i think. I have seen that your image have not winre.wim. Maybe you have deleted to decrease size?
xinso, what is the difference in structure between full roles and partial roles on screens? You haven't touched the Edition MUM, right? So updates would work in both cases, I assume. You don't post not-working solutions.
No. It's my first attemp to remove by hand. Nowadays many components are combined in deploymeny manifest. No way to remove with Microsoft command.
