Thanks for the update, I applied it as the ROM was outdated and limiting things. Using Intel's driver web update solution, I was now able to update to 11.6.0.1030 Intel Rapid Storage Technology from what was previously a much lower RAID controller version, then went ahead and manually installed 11.7.0.1013, which worked just the same, great work!

Very strange BIOS, not able to switch to AHCI mode in it, just with RAID on which shows AHCI on in ROM post, OS installs RAID SATA controllers, no way to switch to AHCI that I can tell. The installed Samsung 840 120gb ssd drive does hit a nice 272mb/s transfers with ROM iRST updates, so can't complain at all, added new life to a very old DELL XPS 410 machine.

Hi I was just wondering a couple of years ago 3 maybe 4 i flashed my bios (dell dimension 9200) to a "slic 2.1 friendly" one and dumb as I am a use a bios master password but now I can't remeber. Is there a deafult backdoor password that normaly is used on these "fixed" bios or are they invidualy set by the "fixer" on there versions. This master password can't be reset by using the cmos jumpers.

As i said that doesn't work for the Dell Dimension 9200 motherboards because the master password is saved in vram not in cmos (I've read somewhere, and I've already tried that). The only option besides the backdoor-password (if there is one) would be to short-circuit the vram-chip or replace the bios-chip (and reflash it) with a new one. The problem is i don't seem to find the vram chip or the bios chip on the motherboard. Maybe someone could help me pinpoint more precisely where they are. The computer is a Dell Dimension 9200 and they where shipped with only two types of motherboards, I have the latest one (biggest) one. Help would be VERY appreciated.

I realize I am late on the scene here, but I really need the SLIC 2.1 BIOS mod for the Dell Dim 9200/XPS410. ALl of the links in these pages, and other links that I have found, are dead. Does anyone still have this one stored somewhere?

    Thanks in advance!

    POST shows: AHCI off

several times i've flashed this BIOS file: DXP061-020503_SLIC_RAID85.EXE from the post above with the new download link.
But on POST it shows: AHCI 'off'. :(

On another Dell Dimension 9200 which was flashed with a bios-file from 2013 the POST shows: AHCI 'on'.
    like:
Unfortunately, I do no longer have the old bios file.

I'm looking for the 'DXP061-020503_SLIC_RAID85.EXE' with enabled AHCI resp. where POST shows AHCI 'on'.

Is this not the same file?
Can anybody help me with a download link?

Or Do i have make different things like bios settings and/or remove any HDD etc. from all SATA Controllers before flashing?
    what i do wrong?

    Thanks for your help! :worthy:

I only made one BIOS, the same one was re-uploaded in the post above.
What the poster you quoted meant was that the BIOS itself is strange: it does not allow you to force AHCI or RAID.
    Just RAID or completely disabled.
But it does not matter, set it to RAID and it should be ok, I'm actually running RAID on mine so can't say what happens with a single drive.
But in any case even Intel recommends to run RAID even with a single drive...
So set it to RAID in the BIOS settings and I think it will work fine.
