Hello MDLers, I have an ASUS N53SN notebook which is dead (no boot / black screen), and I think it is a BIOS problem.
So I have disassembled it and also, with a Hot-Air; disassembled its EEPROM which is (4MB Winbond SPI Flash), and then read its content and saved it as 'DUMP.BIN' for security purposes.
with an HEX Editor (I use '010 Editor' in my case) I opened that 'DUMP.BIN' and started searching for BIOS versions: '204', '206', '207', '208' and '209'. (these are the version of the BIOS found on its official support download page), HERE ---> http://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/271/0/7/x8kw5iLRkgwTkczK/8/
I have found that the version of the BIOS was: 207 (I found the the ASCII string 'N53SN.207' on the DUMP file), so I have downloaded the corresponding BIOS version which is of course version 207 (not the latest one, and I wanted to make a comparison between the two files), DOWNLOAD FROM HERE ---> http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/N53SN/N53SNAS207.zip
Then Extracted the .ZIP file and made a binary comparison VIA '010 Editor'
The problem is that the downloaded file has only 2.5MB of size, and the good news is that the binary comparison results to a 90% match between the entire downloaded BIOS file and the END PART of the DUMP file
So, the BIOS is contained in the END PART of the EEPROM.
I have MODDED the downloaded BIOS file by FILLING its BEGGING with 0xFF bytes so it will be 4MB of size (the size of the EEPROM), saved it and FLASHED BACK the EEPROM with this MODDED BIOS.
After the assembly I GOT NOTHING (DEAD AGAIN)
The QUESTION is: DID I WENT TO THE RIGHT PATH !?
IF NOT : GIDE ME PLEASE

Thank you for your understanding ;)

NB: You will find the 'DUMP.BIN' file compressed and attached.
