I just tried that and after the reset the laptop immediately boots into bios setup so it wouldn't boot from the hard drive. i had to disable "Secure boot" and enable "Lauch CSM" and "Lauch PXE OpROM" in the bios setup so it would boot the from the hard drive. tried then to install the driver with a custom .inf file but installation failed.
Custom .inf file. Note that whenever you use a custom .inf file, the driver is considered unsigned, so you have to enable test mode (disable driver signature enforcement) in order to install the driver (you can go back to normal mode after the driver is installed if the original driver is signed).
@eemuler: just tried that and the drivers gets installed but it keeps giving me the error (code 43) h t t p : / / i60 . tinypic . com / ka3hv6 . jpg Do you know what this error code means? @Joe C: it was disabled or i couldn't change the other 2 settings and so not boot from the hard drive
Ok. Now that you know how to install the driver, let's do it properly. 1. Uninstall the driver (if installed) from the control panel - programs and features. 2. Uninstall the driver (if installed) from device manager. You might need to force it to select Microsoft Basic Adapter (change driver--let me select--browse my computer--etc.). 3. Use a driver cleaner utility like Driver Cleaner from guru3d to get rid of any NVIDIA stuff still lurking around. 4. Disable driver signature enforcement (you have already disabled secure boot; if not, do that too). 5. Switch off the wifi. Reboot. 6. Install the driver. Fingers crossed. Once it is installed, try re-enabling secure boot to see if it kicks out the driver. It shouldn't, but you never know. I don't have EFI, so I can't comment.
@eemuler: followed these steps before too, but tried it now again and just like before the driver gets installed but error code 43 keeps appearing. Further more I can't re-enable Secure boot because if i do that then "Lauch CSM" and so "Lauch PXE OpROM" gets disabled and if that happens the laptop keeps booting straight into bios setup. So i have to keep Secure boot disabled.
i got the driver from laptopvideo2go and what do you mean by "Is or was that Intel driver working?" because if the Nvidia 650M and intel HD graphics wouldn't work, would i see something on screen?
This laptop has Intel HD graphics and Geforce 650m on board. The Intel HD graphics and all the other devices worked right out of the box after installing windows 10 but not the Geforce 650m. I'm aware that Asus doesn't support windows 10 for this laptop but the problem with the geforce 650m was the same on Windows 7. I tried to install the original drivers on Windows 7 but it didn't help (couldn't get further than the error code 43 just like now). This all happened after the bios chip replacement.
A repair shop. But if the bios chip is working with this motherboard is it possible to force the original N56VZ bios without breaking the laptop or do I have to replace the chip. If I have to replace the chip do you know which chip I need and where I can buy it?
Tried that and they say the 3 months warranty for the repair has expired so if I want to let it fix again I have to pay +/- €200 again. That is why I am asking here for help, to find out what the problem is. If I know for sure that it's because of the bios chip I can let it fix again (by someone else) but I'm not going to pay €200 for this kind of repair again. And if software is the cause of this then I can fix it myself.
I don't know the difference between the two but here is a picture of the motherboard: http : / / i57 . tinypic . com / 2r2572b . jpg it's the chip between the motherboard model and big ITE chip
Asus N56VZ Motherboard cost between $188 to $200 on Alibaba. I would rather get another motherboard if I were you.
