Just read the second post, what version are you trying to validate pro or home premium? if its pro where did you get it from ?

It's Pro. It's a Windows 7 AIO (All In One) disk (not preactivated) that I downloaded off of the internet. This disk will allow me to use retail and oem keys. I've used this several times before on other laptops without problems. The key I got off of here for Asus Windows 7 Professional.

I'm not a fan of AIO's...... not saying that is the problem.......... but it could be! How did you activate the others ?

I used Windows Vista OEM Certificate Installer, which worked just fine installing certificates and activating Windows 7 for several other laptops. Now it didn't work for this Asus Eee netbook. So I tried, as per a suggestion here, Daz's Loader, to install the certificate and it worked but is showing an error when I try to validate it on MS's site.

If it has a Slic 2.1 and you used daz's loader to install cert and key i wouldn't be worried about it....... How did you check it was a 2.1 slic?

Would it be worth him doing a MGA Diagnostic report?

Seem's strange it's not validating on the M$ site since it's a clean install.

Using "SLIC Toolkit" software. I will be selling this laptop and I don't want the buyer to stumble on the genuine validation error and think it's a counterfeit copy of Windows. How do I resolve it? Should I reinstall Windows again? I have no problem with reinstalling. I just don't want to keep doing it over and over with the same result (AKA... insanity, LOL!).

I would have him post a MGA report just to see if there are any tampered files.

Ooops! I just realized that the date was off on the netbook, and that was throwing off the validation. The date was mistakenly set for July 25, 2010, instead of September 11, 2010. Now it validates and passes genuine. My mistake. Sorry!

One last question. The fact that I used the loader to activate.... Did it in reality install a "spoof", to fool Windows to think SLIC 2.1 is present, or did it install the certificate only? There already is slic 2.1 in the BIOS. Just want to make sure it is thoroughly genuine.

Did you try the validation in Internet Explorer or Firefox? You need to do the validation using Internet Explorer. <----- Never mind this. Since you got it to validate.

As for your other question. If the Bios already has 2.1 then all it does is apply the cert and/or key.

So if it didn't have the slic 2.1 already, it would install it.....and if it already has it, it just installs the certificate and key?

It does not "per se install" slic 2.1 just emulates it. And yes if you already have it there (slic 2.1) it will just do the key and or cert.
