I would if you can figure it out because it is safer to use but as far as will it work better to flash. There is no difference between the 2. They both work well. Good luck. Remeber to post slic toolkit screens after the flash.

Its not hard at all following onscreen instructions as you have and nothing can really go wrong, if something goes wrong you can always flash back to oem manufactures own bios instead of modded..

Just follow onscreen instructions as you have and choose to update

    @Sam3971,
    @Urie,

I want to make sure that I understand you kind people. I change the file name of ASUS-P6T-DELUXE-V2-0901.ROM into bios.rom and I can run from C:\> by typing filename bio.rom and hit enter? Of course I have to put the new file name into root directory. That is what you meant running from DOS? Kindly confirm.

yes using EZ-Flash. It just makes it simple and easy. Dude remember that if you still have issues or concerns just use the program that I gave you and flash it that way. Just make sure that you flash the file "Bios.ROM" and not another file.

    Hi Sam,

OK! I got it. Thank you very much for your help. One way or the other, you will be the first one to know the result. If I used EZ Flash, I don't have to change file name. Only through DOS I need to change file name because of FAT32 limitation in recognixing long file name. After BIOS update, I will use Slic tool kit to verify. I have been reading for the last 1 1/2 days. I am now ready to perform the final step. I hope I have positive news to share with you in a couple of days.

Ok dude, glad to help. I am awaiting your results. Good luck. BTW I would either use EZ-Flash or the program I gave you. You do not need to do it in DOS because EZ-Flash is kinda like that already so don't worry about that.

You can definitely NOT use AFUDOS 4.x.
You need to use AFUDUS 2.36 from ASUS included in that rar file.
Unzip AFUDOS236.zip and you will get this: AFU236U.exe
    Flash with these instructions:
Recommended Usage (Don't forget the little "i" after the "/")
    Info from yen.

    AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM
(Try this first - Program main BIOS image)

    AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM /pbnc /n
(Use if SLIC is NOT inserted into Bios Properly using first flash method - Programs main BIOS image & bootblock image and resets CMOS and NVRAM to defaults)

Clear CMOS and Reset Bios to Default settings after Flashing.

Thank you very much for your help. I want to ask you a question regarding which method I should be in flashing the BIOS. Before that, please allow me to detailed what I had done to date.
    (1) First BIOS flash
I used ASUS windows based BIOS Update utility AsusUpdt_V71706 with BIOS MOD file ASUS-P6T-DELUXE-V2.0901.ROM I got from BIOS mod section of MDL tested by Barry. The .rom file was not is C:\>root. No slic inserted.

    (2) 2nd BIOS flash
Through ASUS MB EZ flash 2 under Tools in ASUS P6T BIOS SETUP Utiltity page using BIOS MOD file created by Sam yesterday. (no SLIC was inserted verified by SLIC Tool kit 3.2.)

Would you recommend that I jump to AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM /pbnc /n instead of trying AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM first? Kindly advised.
My logic is my first 2 tries are very close to AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM (program main bios)? The only thing that I can tell you is that BIOS version was updated from 0504 to 901. After yesterday, I went back to ASUS BIOS updating forum and learn that Windows based BIOS updating does not have good success rate. DOS is the best way to do it. That is why I am very happy and fortunate to have you jump it to say I must use DOS this time.

After your confirmation, I would proceed accordingly.
Thank you very much for your kind attention.

One last foolish question to ask you. Can a BIOS go bust because of repeated flashing?

I NEVER Recommend Flashing From Windows (unless there is absolutely no other way) because that is usually how people brick their MB.
EZFLASH is hit and miss. It usually doesn't hurt but many times will NOT properly update the BIOS.
    1. This should be fine:
    AFU236U /i0901SLIC.ROM /pbnc /n

    Reset Bios Defaults after Flashing.

    2. No you can't hurt the Bios by Re-Flashing it as long as you use the right Bios and Utility and the power is NOT interupted during the Flash.

Please allow me to ask another question. When you said "Reset Bios Deafaults after flashing, I must load defaults value of BIOS?

FYI, after flashing BIOS using Windows based bios flashing utility AsusUpdt_V0717, the system reboot, I was confronted with a message
run set to receover BIOS settings
Press F1 to run set up
Press F2 to load defaults and continue. You are refering that I must press F2 after DOS Bios flashing? Kindly confirm.
Thanks for all your help. I am almost there.

I always use "F1" because I have to turn off on-board devices because I have a pci-e video card but if you never had to change your bios settings then go with "F2" only use "F1" if you have to change settings to fit your computer like you always had to do.
