I have a NAS where i store all my media, and everything i go into my video folder Windows Explorer starts Indexing/caching all my videos and generating thumbnails and other metatdata like duration and resolution. I wouldn't mind if it just generated it once but every time you go into the folder you get the green bar in window explorer and its stating to annoy me.

I was able to disabled thumbnail generation of all video files so now i just see the icon but it still generates the duration and resolution etc. Does anyone know how to disabled it from indexing the metadata or just have it index once?

Do you have write permissions to the share?? Maybe it can't find the metadata so it has to recreate it everytime and since you don't have write permissions nothing gets saved.

I have write permissions because i'm constantly adding new files to the share.
