If you look in the Avira programme directory you find the AVG engine, they are pretty much the same thing so it must be the definitions that they use.
I vote for AVG. I currently have 2 old PC (Win7 x32) and 1 Super PC with AVG (free edition) 1 old PC (Win7 x32) with Avira (free edition) 1 Laptop (Win XP) and 1 old PC with SEP (licenced edtion) I have also tested Avast (free and licence), Panda, MSE… The antivirus are very effective on a given date. Their classification evolves/moves very quickly. In short, I don't have a philosophy on the question
does anybody here use the paid version of avira, does it auto renew subscription or can do it manually?
I switch from avira free version and using avast free, it has more protection, for example the web shield is included with the free version of avast, avira doesnt come with it. I like it because I go to alot of site, cheats, trainers, ect and some site have adware problem and avast stops it from starting.
avira started bundling useless crapware with its free version and / or suggesting other crapware which is uncalled for and really ruined it for me--still has the best detection rate of all the others though that's why this is a pity i used to use avg for a few years but it started missing critical infections and it used to be a resource hog i now use avast, but only the web rating, behavior shield, file system shield, all the other crap that comes with it is overkill and a resource hog. if i didn't have as much ram as i do, i would probably just use MSE because i can manually fight nearly any infection i believe, and it doesn't use a ton of resources
