    Maybe you should try to flash original bios (1.5 not modded) and see if it's stable or not. Anyway checking my and cyclop's mods I've modded it in the right way. Did you use Afudos for flashing AMI bios ?

    Hi thanks for replying.

    Yes I saw afudos (assuming you mean afud408 utility to flash) and isntalled BIOS OK, system was stable with this BIOS just not activated. i.e. I flashed BIOS ok, I started PC and vista went straight to 'reduced functionality' i.e. not activated.

    The PC has been running for a few months with the V1.4 modded BIOS, it just wont activate when I install v1.5 mod.

    I will be getting my notebook back from RMA in the next few days and will try these if they have not yet been attempted. I just went out an got a USB floppy so I can recover next time.

    when flashing original bios update with winplash :
    it first backs up then verify block and writes new one...
    is it still unsafe when flashing with mod bios???
    do you suggest anything when flashing???thanx
