Prior to flashing, the PC checked the checksum of the new BIOS file and in each time it came up with a different figure. If I remember correctly, the only time it said checksum=00 was with the original F6 BIOS.
@flagmax,, Bios loaded great and Vista activated with the Asus bios. However, I didnt see ASUS_FLASH in the normal string areas for XP. Did you miss that part of my post? I have tried every dmi app i have to write a string for XP and had no success. I was needing both added so ither Vista or XP will activate as i plan a dual boot. I needed the Abit bios done the same way. I needed Hewlett-Packard added for XP and Abit slic for Vista. The Abit slp for XP isnt a big issue as a dmi app will write the string.
That is so neat! I've added the string in valid address range inside System bios. So it should work. DMI does not always work. But I'm really not familiar with slp1 oem. You tried to make oem XP cd with asus bios file and it did not work? There is abit slic slp2?
No, not yet...i just did a quick look at the bios using crystal dmi and didnt see the asus xp string anywhere i expected it to be. I was thinking Asus_Flash needed to be in a very specific area that dmi apps wont write to anyway.
