You can use Everest to see if SLIC is already present. (There is always a chance!) But if it wasn't there or if it wasn't a valid SLIC then a bootloader would be the only option.
I am quite new to this, so please bear with me. My Asus P6T Deluxe v2 will be arriving in a few days for my new (and first ever) build. From reading on the forum I think they are now coming with the latest bios version 0302 and even if not, i'll update. Could someone mod this for me please, so that when it arrives I can load up vista x64 right away. Thank you for your time.
Quick reply. Thanks. Can you point me in the direction of two guides even though I'm sure these two things are simple, I've only be in a computer's bios once lol. How do I upgrade to 0302 when I first build the computer if its not there already? Then, how do I load this modded bios? Finally, are there any other things I would need to do before I could install vista x64? Thank you so much.
The easiest way to update is to copy the modded bios to a USB flash drive. When the computer is starting up press DEL to enter setup and use the flash utility in there. It should be pretty straightforward. The other way is to make a bootable USB flash drive and run afudos.exe at DOS prompt to flash. After updating to modded BIOS, install Vista like usual. I prefer to not put in a key while installing. When vista installation is complete install digital certificate (.xrm-ms file) from command prompt. (Turn off user account control or run as Administrator.) Ex: slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\asus.xrm-ms After cert is installed enter appropriate SLP product key for your version of Vista. (You can do that in system control panel or command prompt.) Ex: slmgr.vbs -ipk <new product key> You're done!
Thanks zort. So thats for installing the modded bios, what about just upgrading the version number beforehand. I think the os for the asus boards has internet access or do I just use a usb drive like the modded bios with the upgrade?
If it doesn't come with 0302 already you can update it to original 0302 bios using the same method. After updating the bios: restart, press DEL to enter setup again, Load setup defaults, Save and exit. Then repeat process the with the modded bios.
