This IC7-G board is replacing a IC7-MAX3, and there is a modded BIOS for IC7-MAX3 that works, I downloaded it from this forum a while back. The IC7-G and IC7-MAX3 are very similar in both layout and components. Same chipset, CPU socket etc.. Only IC7-G have serial and parallel port, IC7-MAX3 doesn't. IC7-G have Sil3112 sata chip onboard, IC7-MAX3 have Sil3114 sata onboard. IC7-MAX3 have a so called OTES fan, IC7-G doesn't. The BIOS chips on these boards are the same type and model. The BIOS setup looks very much the same but of course there are some differences. Just for the hell of it I tried to take the BIOS chip from the IC7-MAX3 and place it in the IC7-G, and the BIOS posted and I could enter the setup. But I didn't dare to try and boot up windows. I'm wondering if it would be possible to take the added SLIC and what else is changed in the working modded BIOS for IC7-MAX3 and port it to the IC7-G BIOS. I have absolutely no idea about the techniques of BIOS modding. I'm crossing my fingers that someone can crack this nut. I bet that the one that modded the BIOS for IC7-MAX3 can mod the one for IC7-G. Thank you so much for trying to help p4spooky, it means a lot. Maybe I'll have to settle for a softmod, but a modded BIOS really is the best solution. Let's see what happens. Thanks again p4spooky
Zort can probably remove some of the CPU microcode from the bios to make room for the SLIC.BIN and an ISA mod. I do not have time for the specific analysis, but a quick peek seems to be promising.. I will try to see it again tomorrow, but I can make no promises. I think this is not impossible, It may take some figuring though...
Ive managed to insert the slic into this bios Like pbspooky correctly says , there is not enough space so i extracted a few of the bmp logo pictures to make the ISA rom fit in Heres the link if anybody wants it Edit: deleted Kindest Regards 1234s282
Have you tried the bios to flash.? You cannot just remove the logos. If they are referenced in the bios code, and they are not there...well we have just caused a BRICK.. The answer is to shrink them by making them black. The 00 or FF compresses better and effectively shrinks the bios. Offsets have to be kept in the newer bios, these are not that picky, but you cannot arbitrarily remove the modules without changing the reference pointers in the bios code..Very poor practice.. Spooky wasnt saying to remove them, as he certainly knows enough about these bios structure to know that would most likely brick the MOBO..Thanks for the effort though..
Can you test original, unmodded F2H to see if there is corruption in case it is a difference with this bios version not the mod? Also remember clearing cmos and loading defaults is sometimes necessary going from one version to another.
