Thnaks NoJUAN999 You are so right NOJUAN999 I did this now : slmgr -ilc C:\NAME.xrm-ms and it is activated. My curiosity is I have been doing it the old way since July 2009, why this time did things change?. It's the same OEM win 7 disc....Is it the new MB bios perhaps? Anyway, it worked. Thanks man, Jeff
You're Welcome. I'm Glad to see you got it working. I have No Idea what you used before but I Always Recommend Flashing from DOS (to Prevent Bricked MB's) and Manually Installing Cert and Key (to ensure Proper Installtion).
One last thing for tonight NoJuan999 In the past the certificate via the cert installer put it in the windows system 32 folder, what I just did was put it in the root of "c" Does it really matter where the certificate resides? Also when you say manually installing the key, you mean NOT during the windows 7 install routine...you mean afterwards? Thanks so much for helping, hope one day I can pay it forward jeff
You put the Cert on C: so that Windows can find it and properly install it into the proper system folder when you type in the Installation Command. I personally Install Win 7 without entering a Serial and then Flash the BIOS and manually Insert the Key so I don't get that Error about the key being Invalid like you did.
NoJuan999 If you are just reformatting and reinstalling windows 7, I gather you would do the same minus the bios flashing, right? jeff
That sucks but yes then I would send it back to the Manufacturer but Don't Tell them you modified the BIOS.
