Thanks for that info urie...... That makes a lot of sense having the slic 2.0 as the dell comes with an OEM copy of vista. Its a really weird setup.... after checking the Dell Docs for this unit and the way the memory is supposed to be setup, it's all wrong. There's a 2gb PC2 5300 667 in slot 1 (Which makes sense, --- only if there was a 2gb in slot 3) but slot 3 is empty so no dual channel. Slot 2 has 512mb PC2 5300 667 in slot 2, and the same in slot 4. (I have been told that someone else had already done some work on it)... (and I think the cheeky sod swapped a 2gb for 2 512's. Knowing full well the woman who it belongs too wouldn't have a clue anyway. This (so called computer savvy) engineer spent ½ hour on the phone, then was supposed to have cleaned the p.c. (ccleaner ect) cost £120. 1 week later printer stops printing, just needs a really good head clean, same engineer again, ½ hour on phone again, does head clean, guess what, another £120. and then you wonder why good people get funny looks... any way thanks again chaps for the advice all the best sadsack
