    Thanks Tito, I never knew that. One other question, I notice that the dos flash commands state awdflash 517slic.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R
    but the bios is in rom format. Is that right or should I change it to awdflash 517slic.rom /cc/cd/cp/py/R.

    Does it matter that the original backup of the bios was in rom format?
    Sorry about all the questions, this is for my brothers business computer. If it was mine I would just flash it and be done with it.
    Also what would be better to flash it with? A usb stick or a usb floppy?

    Noop... actually AWDFLASH by default accepts bin files. USB stick is more convenient I think.

    I already renamed it to 517SLIC.BIN (in the .rar file) so no need to rename it again.

    It doesn't matter.

    I would flash from a USB Drive since the BIOS is 1MB in size.

    NoJuan999 everything worked out great, Thank you! Unfortunately for me the computer was crashed when I got there and I spent 1/2 hour fixing that.
    The bios flash went without any issues and Vista activated. Also my brothers stress level has dropped since it was his computer.
