    Troubleshooting

    @xpirat and others

Could you please post the method you used to mod these so we cant easily troubleshoot the issues that may arise, such as inactivation and boot issues. Most often we can tie a method to MB manufacturer for quick fix. I do not want to have to open every bios to see the method used if I dont have too.

    I thank you..

edit: NoJuan999 has a good format, but it need notbe that elaborate..just a simple:

method used: SSv3 would be sufficient.
MMtool is standard, so it need not be mentioned.
I assume the methods will all be tool mods, please elaborate on any manual efforts...

No working flash tool for my old Compaq

I would like to modify the Bios in my 2004 Compaq Presario 8820e just as I have done with my Gigabyte based PCs but I have no flash tool and no bios file.

    -Computer model: Compaq Presario 8820e
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Asus P4SD-LE (Blazer)
    -Bios Revision : Ver 08.00.09-3.19
    -Bios Type : AMI
-Bios SLIC : None, would like to have 2.1
    -Bios Link : None

I havent found any link to this Bios but there is a link to an update on Compaq's website. But that is an exe file which will install an updated Bios and I haven't got the guts to do that. It seems as you are not able to backup your old Bios or extract the new bios from that exe file.

So I thought I should just use a Bios flash tool to backup the Bios, mod it and then flash it back.

I have found two flash tools on Asus home page: AFLASH, which should be used with the P4S board but this tool just tells me that it "cannot find the Bios hook" and exits. Another tool, AFLASH2 reports that "you computer is too old for this tool" (Thank you very much!).

Does any of you know how to backup and flash this Bios? Maybe you already have a modded Bios that kan be used?

Any help and hints are most welcome.
