@NoJuan999 first, thanks for the hard work and the quickness in responding! it is much appreciated. the link does not work. and at the risk of sounding like a noob, what do you mean about a "recovery disk"? do you mean a way to flash with the original bios in case this does not work? also, this pc cannot boot from a usb drive. i can search around and figure out how to make a bootable cd to flash it though, right? by that i mean is it possible to flash a bios from cd? i ask because the floppy drive does not work anymore and i never bothered to replace it. i figured, "who needs a floppy drive nowadays, anyways?!" thanks again! nurvus so i have researched a little and see that it is possible to flash a bios from a cd, i will work on that part once i have the modded bios. then i thought about the recovery cd part. at first i was thinking that if i mess it up somehow, how can i flash it to the original bios if windows does not start (considering that the bios provided by sony is a windows based utility and can't be extracted), but i am assuming the back up i sent can be used in creating a bootable cd also to flash with the original bios in dos, right? when you have a chance, the original link is still not working. thanks again NoJuan999!
Link is fixed, Sorry about that. By Recovery Disk, yes I just meant a means to re-flash to the original BIOS (the back-up will work). You could even test flash the back-up first just to be safe and it willl give you some experience with flashing this BIOS. You can Flash from CD, just be sure to Verify that the data on the CD is valid BEFORE you attempt Flashing the BIOS. I have included two different Versions of AFUDOS. I personally used AFUDOS 4 for the other Sony Vaio BIOS mod.
