Bios recovery worked with a slightly modified version of the recovery procedure. This board has built-in video, and it wasn't working. I had to dig out an old PCI video card to be able to see what was going on. It appears the /f switch in the award recovery command is no longer needed and was causing an error that I didn't realize was going on until I could see the screen. Also, the AWDFLASH893.EXE filename is too long to execute properly in DOS. I renamed it to flash.exe. After modifying the autoexec.bat command accordingly, the bios update succeeded.

Out of curiosity (since I could now successfully recover), I tried to update the same exact way with your modified bios...and succeeded! I will follow up with more info to see if the windows activation works.
