Hello! I hope this is the right place, I used a BIOS editor, thought it would be a simple matter of changing vendor ID to get my new WLAN card to work. Wrong, editor did not build it correctly I think. At any rate, I am trying to do recovery and following the procedure. I'm using the CRISDSK to do it on a USB floppy, and I can get the laptop to read from it. It runs it for a couple minutes, beeps a low, long, staticy sounding beep, then 2 shorter high pitched ones. I had just flashed with F24 from HP's site before the mod. I got the BIOS.BAK from the laptop hard drive and have added that to the recovery disk... but still no luck. No matter what I do, when I restart, it is the same, fans and drives come up, but power button will not work. I saw some mention of perhaps not having the right version of phlash16? Can anyone tell me what I might be missing?
