    Hello everyone,

I'm really glad to be a new member of this incredibly interresting forum...

    To be simple...

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Build 7600) in English
    (fresh install, not yet activated)
    Motherboard: Asus P7P55D-E Pro
    BIOS Type: AMI
    BIOS Version: 1002
    BIOS Date: 05/21/2010
    BIOS ID: 65-0610-000001-00101111-121009-P55-A1513003
SLIC Version: 2.1 (according to SLIC ToolKit V3.2)

I would like to activate it so, according to what "The Official Windows 7 Repository" say, I can follow those basic steps to do that:

    1°) Check SLIC Version
The SLIC Version is 2.1 there is no red color in the fields "PubKey", "Marker" and "Digital Signature".

    2°) F-a. Manually install a certificate

    3°) F-b. Manually install a key

4°) Enjoy the activation and thanks MDL

Is it the right process ?

In the second point 2°), I must
But I saw that there was two Asus certificate:
    - ASUS.xrm-ms (21/05/2007)
    - ASUS-NEW.xrm-ms (28/09/2009)

I guess that I must used the last one. Am I right ?

I have other questions but I will wait for positive answer before...

    Thanks a lot.

PS: Please be indulgent for my first topic:
    - I'm not really sure to be at the right place.
    - I'm not shure to ask pertinents questions.
    - I'm not shure to use a correct English (I speak french natively)

    Thanks for reply !

I know that, I got all information from there... I just want to be sure it is the right way to activate windows for my configuration. Be shure to make no mistakes...

So is it ? And must I use the ASUS-NEW certificate ?

Thanks but I don't want to use any loader, just want to do all by my self, to really understand what I do.

It is not necessary for the certificate to be in C:\. It can be anywhere on the system.. The command to install certificate is slmgr /ipk <path to cetificate> where path to certificate can be any valid file path to the certificate, e.g., "D:\Windows 7 ISO\Certificate\ASUS_New.xrm-ms".

For ASUS SLIC 2.1, the new certificate is required i.e., for Windows 7.

    Thanks for your answer :)

Now, just for my understanding, "mod the BIOS" can improve performance or add some feature ? or is it just to activate windows...

Because in mod requests, there is someone who asked for a modded bios for the same configuration that I'm using. But if it is already a SLIC 2.1, why mod the bios ?

Modding your bios does nothing but inserts slic 2.1 or 2.0. One question did you insert an oem slp key yet? That is needed to activate or else you would still be grace mode.

No, I don't insert an oem slp key yet. But I also don't insert the certificate yet... I'm just currently recolting the information on the process before doing anything. Just want to be shure of what I will do.

So, since I have already a SLIC 2.1, mod the bios is useless for me, right ?

Is there other manipulations that can be done to improve performance, feature or anything else in Windows 7 and that must be done at a BIOS level (other than improve the BIOS Option as usually) ?
